MICHAEL JOHN DE ROSA
On March 24, 2024, Michael De Rosa, loving, husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 91. Michael was born May 12, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to Carmine and Carmela De Rosa. He received his BS in accounting from Hofstra University in 1958. While attending college he meet and fell in love with Gail Marchese. They were married July 10, 1960, and were happily married until Gail’s passing in 2019. Michael was a CPA, notably in his career, he was employed at Ernst & Whinney, and retiring in 1997 from Borden, Inc. He and Gail promptly moved to South Carolina. He was an accomplished Cessna pilot, boat owner/operator, trumpet player and golfer. He had a great love of classical jazz. He was an avid softball player, photographer, shopper and restaurateur. He served in the army from 1952 to 1954 in Korea. He fearlessly, courageously and proudly served his country.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and indebtedness to The Pines of Mount Lebanon. Their knowledge, compassion, understanding and perseverance never went unnoticed. The staff at the Pines and Gateway Hospice were dedicated to assisting not only our father on his life-altering journey, but gave support, assistance and guidance to the family as well. We are forever thankful for you all.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Carmine (Carl) De Rosa, his mother, Carmela (Mildred) De Rosa, his brother Anthony De Rosa, and his beloved wife, Gail De Rosa. He is survived by his two children, Michelle (Gary) Walthour, Todd (Holly) De Rosa, and his grandchildren, Amanda Beck, Christian Beck, Sophia De Rosa, Anthony De Rosa, and Joseph De Rosa. May Michael and Gail’s love continue to grow in heaven. There will be no funeral service or visitation.
